Commands
Interacting with TrekForecast is easy! The general format is the request type followed by a specific item you are looking for. For example, all weather requests begin with weather. For more information, see the examples below.
Getting Weather Forecasts
Before requesting a weather forecast it is important to send a Check In message from your Spot X device. This lets us know the location to provide a weather forecast.
All requests for weather forecasts need to begin with either "Weather" or "Forecast" followed by the time period for the weather forecast.
For example, if you wanted the weather forecast for Wednesday Night you would send a message to TrekForecast saying "Weather Wednesday Night".
If you prefer, you can also use "Forecast Wednesday Night". For the current forecast you can simply send a message to TrekForecast saying "Weather" or "Forecast".
If you request an invalid period we will respond with a list of valid forecast periods.
Getting Available Weather Forecasts
Before requesting the available forecasts it is important to send a Check In message from your Spot X device. This lets us know the location to provide the available weather forecasts.
If you'd like to know which forecasts are available for your particular location simply send a message to TrekForecast saying "Forecasts". We will respond with the available forecast periods for your area.
Manually Setting Location
There may be times where you'd like to manually set a location to get a forecast for. For example, you may want to see what the weather forecast is for your home location. Send a message to TrekForecast saying "Location" followed by your ZIP code.
For example, to set the location to ZIP code 55110 you would send a message to TrekForecast saying "Location 55110". You will recevied a confirmation indicating that your location has been updated. Once you receive the confirmation we will send information for that location.
NOTE: Every time you Check In on your Spot X device your location will be updated. If you'd like to update your location to where your device is simply perform a Check In on your Spot X device. If you'd like to set the location manually you'll need to do so after every Check In.
Getting Help
To request help from your device, simply send a message to TrekForecast saying "Help". We will send a text message back indicating the available help options.
